Cartridge filters are used to remove the solid and other dirt particles from the water. These are the simple and modular filters installed in housing or a case in a RO plant to remove the dirt and even chemicals present in the water. These filters are composed of many materials. Mostly they are made up of polypropylene because it resists the growth of bacteria. However, they can also be made of wound string, rigid foam, or pleated film. Sometimes, cellulose is also used to make up the cartridge filter

When the water gets passed through this filter, the solid material gets trapped on the cartridge filter. The filters are placed according to the size of the particles. This means that the filters are rated according to their ratings to remove particles of a specific size. For example, a typical choice of cartridge filter would be a 20-micron filter, then a 5-micron filter, and at last a 1-micron filter. But, it depends upon the type of water that is made to pass through the filter.

So, we know that the cartridge filters are used to remove the solid and dirty particles from the water. But what exactly do these filters remove. Do you know? These filters can remove sedimentsmetals, and other microorganisms from the water. For the good functioning of the cartridge filters, the correct size filters must be installed. The filters work best when the water passing through them does not contain many solid materials and has a significantly less quantity of chemicals present in it.

The cartridge filters don't have the capability of backwashing themselves. They have to be replaced once they become either dirty or get blocked. Now, there might be a question that what is the frequency of replacing the filters? So, the frequency of changing filters depends upon the quality of water passing through the filter.

What is the benefits of Cartridge Filter?

Have you ever wondered why these cartridge filters are necessary? It has a lot of advantages and plays a vital role in the purification of water. Some of the benefits are listed below:

  • 1. Cartridge filters help in the removal of suspended solids. Also, they help against membrane fouling.
  • 2. Bacteria ranging in size from 0.2 to 2 microns can be easily removed through cartridge filters.
  • 3. Cartridge filter helps in decreasing the SDI, turbidity, and color of the water.
  • 4. It is easy to maintain with fewer costs to cover.

So, we hope you have got to know how valuable the cartridge filter is. Make sure that the cartridge filters are replaced and whenever they become dirty or blocked. They are an essential part of RO plants. Get checked your RO system now and fulfill the dream of drinking water free of solid and dirty particles.
